A magnificent jewel midst Summit County real estate, the alpine village of Frisco is a bustling community up the road from Breckenridge real estate. Exquisite views of Mount Royal, the prominent sentinel overlooking most of Frisco, and the glistening waters of Dillon Reservoir provide a hard-to-beat setting for Frisco, Colorado homes for sale, Frisco condos for sale and other properties for sale in Frisco. Anyone seeking Frisco investment property may want to know that two-thirds of current residences double as vacation and short-term rental properties in Summit County.
Located off of Interstate 70 in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, just 70 miles west of Denver real estate, Exit 201 guides the visitor to regenerated Main Street restaurants, shops, services and après ski spots that have turned Frisco into a boutique resort town. Frisco's intriguing history is beautifully preserved at the Frisco Historic Park, with original 19th-century buildings including the 1881 jail and the Schoolhouse Museum.
The I-70 corridor also leads to real estate in Vail, Kremmling real estate, Leadville real estate and real estate in Georgetown and Breckenridge, properties near the Ten Mile Range and Ten Mile Creek, homes for sale near Bryon Park, and properties near the picturesque shores of Lake Dillon.
With mild temperatures and sunshine practically every day, and virtually no humidity, summertime is glorious. Try renting a runabout, sailboat, pontoon, canoe or kayak at the Frisco Bay Marina. One of several beautiful golf courses in Summit County is only six miles away. The possibilities continue. Many enjoy the state-of-the-art Nordic Center; and others bike, hike or in-line skate along the paved Ten Mile Recreational Pathway, which covers more than fifty miles from Vail through town to Keystone. At the Peninsula Recreation Area, a disc-golf course, a baseball field and picnic areas provide more fresh air for the entire family.
The town produces an extensive calendar of summer events like street concerts, arts and crafts fairs, races, bicycle events, athletic events, festivals of all kinds and one of the State's best Fourth of July celebrations featuring awesome fireworks. During the winter, take your pick and ski or snowboard at any one of the five resorts within a ten-minute drive: Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Copper Mountain, and Loveland. Other adventurous winter activities include snowmobile tours, dog sledding, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and sleigh rides.
Due to the central location, a small-town atmosphere, and big-town conveniences like WalMart, the Summit Middle School and the new 200,000-square-foot hospital and medical campus, the town’s growing popularity is reflected in growing property values. In 1990, single-family homes averaged $125,000 but now it is $636,000. In 1990, a condo cost $98,000, now $277,000. And a lot was $36,000 and is now $238,000. With the Dillon Reservoir on one side and the White River National Forest on the other side, future growth will need to take a creative bend!
The 2,600 residents enjoy mayor/town council governance, which welcomes comment on growth issues. With its own elementary school, and as home to Summit County School District's middle school, preschool, administrative offices, bus barns and a maintenance facility, education is definitely important around here. Summit High School is located nearby at Farmer's Corner on the way to Breckenridge and Colorado Mountain College is consolidating its campuses in the area.
Denver International Airport (DIA) is a two-hour drive from Summit County destinations. Colorado Springs is a good alternative and it is three hours away. Eagle County Airport is only one or one and a half hours away and can be most helpful during ski season. Local transportation can range from the Summit Stage bus service to a rental bicycle!
