There’s lots of adventure and family fun in Silverthorne, Colorado.  Set on the famous Blue River, people come from far and wide for great lodging, shopping, trails and a helpful visitor center.  Silverthorne is the first exit on I-70 westbound from Denver after exiting the Eisenhower Tunnel, passing under the Continental Divide.  And it is only a shuttle away from Breckenridge real estate!

The town was incorporated in the 1960s and has grown up with the local tourist industry.  Here within 20 minutes of Summit County's 4 world-class ski resorts, a 62,000 sq. ft. recreation center offers plenty of indoor recreation, including a swimming pool and hot tubs for both residents and visitors alike.  Imagine leaving the life of a couch potato forever as you and your family get outside and move around!  Make great use of the activities center, the skate park, the Nordic center, the ice rink, the golf course, the Eagles Nest Wilderness, the Dillon Ranger District of the White River National Forest, whitewater rafting opportunities, horseback riding, Jeep and ATV tours, hot-air balloon rides, lift rides, snowmobile rides and scenic sleigh rides.  

Children and youth are able to attend the schools hosted by Summit County School District.  Summit High School is in a central location to Breckenridge, Keystone, Frisco, Silverthorne and Dillon.  Summit County Middle School is located in Frisco and the elementary schools are here in town.  There is also the option of private school.  Colorado Mountain College campuses are right here in the Rockies.

Denver International Airport (DIA) is a two-hour drive from Summit County destinations.  Colorado Springs is a good alternative and it is three hours away.  Eagle County Airport is only one or one and a half hours away–very helpful during ski season.  An abundance of accommodations, the central Summit County location and easy access to Interstate 70, and the Ptarmigan and Eagles Nest Wilderness areas, make Silverthorne a popular destination.
