Breckenridge, Colorado real estate boasts a happening cultural scene that revolves around the colorful downtown National Historic District.  A cozy 100-seat performing arts theater in the bustling Ridge Street area hosts a variety of world-class entertainment venues.

With carefully preserved buildings from the 1880s and 90s lining Main Street, residents of Breckenridge real estate walk this real stage where folks once gathered for the gold rush.  These days, however, Breckenridge's real estate buyers are drawn to the world-class ski resort around Breckenridge real estate and they get theater and film as a bonus.

Theater buffs and moviegoers can easily drop in for shows at the Backstage Theatre, Breckenridge Film Festival, the Speakeasy Moviehouse, and the RiverWalk Music and Events Center, as well as the Dillon Center for the Performing Arts.

Presenting a series of terrific season productions and special events, the Backstage Theatre has been the prime live theatre year after year since 1974.  With productions such as “Alabama Rain” and “The Spitfire Grill,” it is best to have reservations for this memorable evening of entertainment. This exemplary community theater depends on annual funding from the Town of Breckenridge, The Summit Foundation, Jane Alexandra Storm Foundation, and everyday patrons.

The Speakeasy Movie Theatre is "The Locals Choice."  Housed in Colorado Mountain College, the Speakeasy offers first-run movies and an art gallery displaying the work of local artists, including painting, photography, sculpture, and jewelry.  There are also the Skyline Cinema Translux Theatres in Dillon.

The RiverWalk Music and Events Center has the wonderful outdoor riverside stage in downtown and hosts free performances, including theater every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.

The Breckenridge Festival of Film is a four-day festival in September.  Stocked with premieres, celebrity guests, filmmakers, seminars, special events, parties, and over 25 independent films, it is affectionately known as the Breck Film Fest.

Top-notch entertainment at the nearby Lake Dillon Theatre includes a well-rounded seasonal program of comedy, musicals, dramas kids’ workshops, and something spicy, such as “Equus”.

Sometimes, during vacations in the area resort, big-name Broadway leads perform in the local theaters.  But the great local talent also delivers compelling acting and song, drawing new talent for every audition.  In fact, the Denver Post awarded the Backstage with several Ovation awards and named the Lake Dillon Theatre as one of the Top Ten Theaters in Colorado outside of Denver.  The Colorado Theatre Guild also named it Outstanding Western Theater.  Backstage has won many honors through the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition.
