Living in Breckenridge, Colorado real estate and the smaller Summit and Park County communities of Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Keystone, Alma, Fairplay, etc., we have a great opportunity to make a difference. Just think, without each of our contributions to the community, there would only be the Rocky Mountains, the trees, wildlife, and waters. As residents of homes in Breckenridge, we can choose this year to make a difference in our own lives and gorgeous environment.
Here is a ten-step checklist to adding your spark to life for yourself, family, friends, and Summit and Park County neighborhoods. Create a goal for each.
1. Personal: Determine to be a true friend of yourself. Find a way to improve your self-confidence, to enhance your abilities, or to develop a skill.
2. Health: How can you change even one habit to improve your health? Exercise, diet patterns, regular checkups and dental appointments come under this category.
3. Recreation: Can you develop a new vista in the great outdoors? Try seeing our wonderful paradise from snowshoes or a mountain bike or a sailboat. Have you ever gone hunting?
4. Family: All of the above will certainly help you to strengthen your family relationships because you will feel more vibrant. How can you best support and nurture your mate, children, siblings, and parents?
5. Friendships: How can you deepen old friendships and heal difficult ones. Maybe you can plan to invite a widow or single parent to a holiday dinner.
6. Community: This goal affects a larger circle of social responsibility. What footprints do you want to leave in your community? Can you be more helpful, responsive, engaging? There are ways to volunteer on the trails, with the children and youth, with seniors, and in the arts, at community events, and more.
7. Career: These goals pertain to your vocation in both the professional and volunteer arenas. Can you improve the way you go about your daily work routines? Do you need to develop yourself?
8. Financial: Are you in control of your financial life? Are you looking to the future, do you have savings plans, investments, and retirement plans? Are you planning your estate? Do you need to master your debt and get a handle on spending?
9. Household: What decor and implements to you want to have in your home? Do you need new furnishings? Do you need to get rid of the clutter and unused possessions?
10. Spiritual: How do you build peace of mind and heart? Do you need to develop habits of prayer and meditation, or better apply your beliefs into your daily life?
