The FIS Giant Slalom and Slalom from April 3-8 features the International Ski Federation’s Rocky Mountain Trophy Series—high ranking national and international competitors racing slalom and giant slalom. Younger athletes challenge the national development athletes.
Ever hear of ski-boot salsa dancing? Comedy Night, Fiesta Latina and Live Music the weekend of April 4 features enough laughs to stimulate your thyroid. Join in song and dance for live après and then catch JoDee Messina performing in the evening. On April 9, it will be Hats Off to skiers and riders ages 65 and over during Spring Chicken Day. Silver hair earns free parking and a lunch ticket at the Vista Haus Restaurant. High Country Comedy Night at Park Avenue Pub features local and nationally acclaimed John Novosad.
By April 11, skiers and boarders will grind it out at the Massive Rail Jam benefitting an injured colleague. It promises to be a rail sliding extravaganza followed by Friday Comedy Night. The next day the Massive Slopestyle Competition presents skiers and riders throwing down in a progressive freestyle competition in the Freeway Terrain Park for a “massive†cash purse. Evening fireworks follow. The Massive Beerfest features 16 microbrews and craft beers with unlimited tasting. Then, the Massive Superpipe Competition showcases world-class riders and local amateurs competing in the state’s top rated 18-foot high Superpipe.
The show continues the next weekend when the Ridge Street Massive Music Weekend season finale entertains onlookers while the 20th Annual Imperial Challenge warms up with a 6.2 mile mountain bike ride from the Town across Peak 7 to Peak 8. Then contestants pour is on to the top of the Imperial Bowl and descend to the base of Peak 8 on skis or snowboard. By April 20, the 28th Annual Bump Buffet combines talent with spirit as telemarkers tackle the bumps dressed in zany costumes. The resort celebrates Closing Day afterwards.
