2008 Breckenridge Labor Day Festivities

Labor Day weekend presents a chance to sneak-preview Breckenridge real estate for your year-round vacation paradise and great end-of-summer festivities. In between big events like the 33rd Annual Breckenridge Gathering at the Great Divide and the Rubber Duck Races down the Blue River, we will show you Summit County real estate around Breckenridge, Colorado.

Whether you are interested in homes on the Breckenridge golf course or recreational real estate in Fairplay or Alma in Park County, the weather will allow us to quickly offer you a glimpse of today’s values for Rocky Mountain real-estate investment near the world-class Breckenridge and Keystone ski resorts.

Saturday and Sunday, August 30 and 31, and Monday, September 1, 2008 on North Main Street at Wellington, the nationally ranked fine-art show featuring over 140 artists and a wide range of mediums, highlights the popular Breckenridge family weekend at the Gathering at the Great Divide Art Festival. This is an opportunity to relate to the artists bringing photography, wood, glass, jewelry, pottery and many more beautiful pieces for your inspiration. As only one of the 2008 Mountain Art Festivals directed by Mark Beling and Judith Pollack, an array of talent will be presented and available for interviews and also to commission for specific pieces to decorate your mountain dream home.

On Saturday, August 30, 2008, the fabulous Great Rubber Duck Races—an annual event for 21 years—features three competitions, wonderful prizes, live music, barbeque, and children’s amusements. The races are on beginning with the Comcast Kids Duck Dash at 2:00 p.m. followed by the FirstBank Business Battle Duck Race at 3:00 p.m. and the spectacular Myriam Enterprises Great Rubber Duck Race at 4:00 p.m.

On Sunday, August 31, 2008, the Breck Crest bike race is on. Known for its rugged terrain, elevation, and incredible scenery, the Breck Crest is run on dirt, single-track trails, and forest service roads in the Ten Mile Range to the west of Town. Races include a marathon, a half marathon, and a five-mile race.

Then, there are other events on tap to interest everyone in your family. The Arts Alive Presents Colorado Colors at the La Cima Mall; Art on a Whim welcomes Jeff Leedy, a top humor artist; Backstage Theater Presents: Wizard of Oz at the Riverwalk Center; and Breckenridge Heritage Alliance offers tours of the Barney Ford House Museum, Historic Walking Tour, Lomax Placer Mine Tour, Washington Mine Tour, Rotary Snowplow Park, and the William H. Briggle House.

Main Street Performances Presents: Jubilant Bridge Contemporary Acoustic Duo at the Blue River Plaza, the entire Town will be full of sidewalk sales, all ages can draw, quilt, or knit, dip into yoga, Tai Chi, or Kung Fu classes, and/or burn off steam at the Rec Center.
